Wingstabi 7 Classic channel assignment question

Hello Forum members.

I have a Wingstabi 7 Classic paired to a Mutiplex RX-7-DR M-link receiver and utilize a Royal Pro 16 (firmware version 3.60) transmitter.

The Wingstabi Advanced manual states the following on page 4: "All WINGSTABI versions with or without integrated M-LINK receiver generally accept up to 16 control channels on the input side (or even 18, depending on RC system). On the output side, 7, 9, 12 or 16 channels (the more channels the higher the transfer rate) are available for analog or digital servos, depending on the version"

This statement in the Wingstabi Advanced manual left me with the impression that my Wingstabi could accept up to 16 input channels. I was able to successfully assign the following controls to the Wingstabi output channels: 1) Aileron, 2) Elevator, 3) Rudder, 4) Throttle, 5) Flight Mode, 6) 4th Flight Mode, 7) TrmElev. However, when I assign additional functions in the transmitter (for example, TrmAiel, TrmRudd, a slider to adjust gyro sensitivity) to transmitter channels 8, 9, 10, 11 etc., the Wingstabi does not recognize them. Is this a normal behavior of the Wingstabi 7 Classic?

Is there a "work-around" solution that would allow me to assign transmitter channels and assigned functions (in particular TrmAiel, TrmRudd, and a gyro gain slider) to channels 8 and higher?

Hi,

a RX-7-DR receiver will only send 7 Channels in his SRXL protocoll.
so the weak point in your setup is the RX-7-DR.
You can use a RX-9-DR (then you will have 9 Channels) or a RX-9/16 which will give you the 16 Channels for the wingstabi as input.

But you are correct a Wingstabi-7 with integrated receiver will have 16 inputs by 7 outputs.

Is there an effective feedback method for multiplex? I would like to suggest to Multiplex that they correct this very misleading and incorrect information in their user manuals. Unfortunately the manuals misrepresent their product.

That's the way i use, but i think there is nothing wrong in the documentation. your wingstabi 7 classic is accepting 16 input channels via SRXL. you have to use a single receiver which will send 16 channel at the SRXL output. therefore you have to read the manual of the receivers.

Upon reflection It is doubtful that I'm the first and only individual to make this incorrect assumption.

Perhaps it would make sense to clarify the manual's claim that all wingstabi accept up to 16 input channels with the qualifier that sufficient receiver channels must also be available in order to "read" the transmitter signals.

Can you please confirm for clarity that if I were to purchase a Wingstabi with integrated receiver (7 channel receiver part number 55012) the gyro would read and accept all 16 transmitter output?

yes, i have a integrated winstabi 9 and using channel 10,11 for trim inputs.
as i work with many flight controls using srxl, it was clear for me, that rx-7-dr only give a output of 7 channels analog and digital on srxl. same for rx-5-dr and rx-9-dr. Only the RX-9-DR SRXL16 has 9 analog and 16 digital outputs. However, you have to pay a surcharge for this extension.

(some of the flexx receivers, too, have more srxl channels than analog outputs).

when you have a mlink system, the best is to buy a integrated wingstabi. the classic wingstabi is more for the users who want to use graupner, futaba or jeti with a wingstabi.
