Putting together a brand new Heron glider and while setting up the flaps all I can get is one flap to go up while the other one goes down. I'm using a spectrum ar637t + receiver with a spectrum nx8 transmitter. The flaps are connected by a "y" connector and going into the number six port. I've tried selecting different Wing types, started with two ailerons and two flaps Wing type. Everything I do the results are the same one flap goes up one flap goes down

What do you think? If both Flaps are connected via Y-cable and thus receiving the same signal, what do you think your elektronic and software can do to have them moving in different directions? Right, this can only be done mechanical and you need to uninstall a servo and put it back in reverse.

Having this in mind, it is clear that you are most probably a very beginner. I highly recommend to go for local assistance. I am sure there are more problems in your setup and you dont want the risk of loosing the plane.

My receiver, the nx8 is a 8-channel transmitter. You are correct that I'm new to setting up an airplane from scratch. I don't have a local Club to gather information from. So I'm trying to do it here online. A lot of suggestions have been to flip the servo to reverse its throw. But the opening in the Heron Wing only allows the servo to go in one position. Are you suggesting that I need to modify the opening in the wing to facilitate the flip? I feel like putting the flaps on separate channels is a Band-Aid. Being new I wonder if that is a standard procedure or just a Band-Aid. My radio is capable of a normal setup if I knew how to do it LOL. Thanks for your help I learned to fly on the Soleus but have destroyed it and need to build the Heron.

The suggestions for channel assignments are a big help. But I don't see where that information is found in the multiplex instructions that came with the Heron. Can you share the source of this information? Thank you for your help.

As one previously mentioned - serving each Flap with its own Channel is the best, the most preferred and the common option. You would only use a Y-cable in case you dont have enough channels with your receiver.

You will not find it in the manual. Actually I assume because this is "commonly known" and it is not a matter of the model, but of the individual preference of the owner/builder/pilot.
Have fun with your Heron!

Your answer was very helpful thank you very much. I loved flying the Soleus and was getting the hang of it but tried to do a second Loop when I was too low to the ground. I need to make better decisions lol thanks everyone

Okay I think I found the problem. Surprise it's my reading comprehension. I just realized you said I can't use a 6-channel receiver to run seven channels. I was thinking about my transmitter. It has 8 channels and I was thinking I have an extra one ! The receiver is only a six Channel and that's the problem! thank you.
I also got on YouTube and figured how to go through the programming on my radio. I actually got it running with aileron's, three position flaps, but no crow? I put the ailerons on a Y connector, each flap Servo has its own channel, Rudder elevator and throttle all have their own channel. I will take your advice and get a seven or higher Channel receiver. That will probably fix the crow problem. Thank you guys again sometimes I'm My Own Worst Enemy!
