Intermittent crackling noise from BL-20-SD speed controller

I have the Multiplex Fun Glider RR and set up to instructions with Futaba 8FG transmitter and 3 cell Lipo.
When test running I notice an occasional slight cracking sound from the ESC when throttling up/down.
Is this normal?

Hi,
ESCs shouldn't make any noise. Does the noise really come out of the controller? Or is it from a loose engine? If it was the ESC, You should visit Your dealer and get it changed. Just imagine what happened, if BEC striked during a flight.

Thanks for the reply Tom. I know from a bit of research on line that this crackle from the ESC can be caused by an incorrect timing setting and just wondered if anyone else had encountered it and if it can be fixed by changing the timing setting for the ESC
