Hello, Manolo!
With the mc3030 you have got a transmitter which is quite reliable but old - more than 15 years out of production. There are almost no spare parts any longer available. So to blame MULTIPLEX for not being able to help you is a bit over the top and unjustified.
Before you ever send any item (especially such old ones) to the MPX-service contact them beforehand - most preferably call them.
In detail:
An upgrade to "master edition" means to exchange the mainboard or at least the processor - both are no longer in production or available. MULTIPLEX will not implement any second hand itms. A mere firmware update is not possible!
It even might be that MULTIPLEX has no longer any switches for the mc3010 in stock because with the end of the mc30xx production they changed the switch connectors (e.g. for the mc4000 or Royal evo). So again: MULTIPLEX will not install any used items - they even won't lock for such items on ebay or elsewhere.
As far as I remember there has never been a Spanish version of the software. English was possible and I wonder why they did not help you with that.
If the back-up-battery was low, you would have known that for either an error message might have appeared or the display only shows light letters, worst case: a loss of model memories.
A mere test of the back-up-battery is difficult. What they should be able to do is to replace the old one. I had one changed about 15 years ago and I remember that they charged me more than 50 € for that. The battery itself is only about 5 €, but they have to dissamble the mainboard as the battery sits on rear side of the board. But they should still be able to do that for you.
Solutions:
For the upgrade to "master edition" you may try to find a mainboard or complete mc3030 on e.g. eBay. The same for the switch. The language can only be changed by the MULTIPLEX service unless you find a mc3030 produced for the English speaking market. There are tutorials for changing the back-up-battery on the internet, alas you should be able to handle electronic parts, be able to dissamble the complete mc3030 tranmitter and you must be able to do soldings on the mainboard. That normally is a job for a professional!
My hints and pieces of advice rest on my more than 25 years long experience with dissambling, repairing und expanding MULTIPLEX tansmitters (not only but especially mc30xx ones). I know almost any MPX-transmitter from outside to inside and most of the weaknesses. The main weakness of the transmitters, especially the old ones, is the back-up-battery, but I have had just one case of backup-battery failures in all these years (see above) but the risk increases with the age of the transmitter.
I have to put emphasis on the fact that I am not a MULTIPLEX employee and neither have any closer contact to the service. I am just a MULTIPLEX enthusiast!
so long
